SEASON TICKET No. 1

«MUSIC JOURNEY WITH FABIO MASTRANGELO»
(4 concerts)

Concerts start at 19:00

Every year, Maestro Fabio Mastrangelo and The Saint-Petersburg Northern Sinfonia Orchestra of the Music Hall Theatre invite music lovers to different countries of the world.

In the new season the audience will travel with the Maestro to the Baltic countries closest to Russia, and also to Germany and Poland, and the closing concert of the Season Ticket will get the public acquainted with lively and passionate music of the South American continent.

There is always a surprise in every program of the Maestro. And it was not without "zest" this time: all the soloists who take part in concerts are the best representatives of the young generation of Russian musicians. They are just starting their way to glory, but have already reached success on the world musical Olympus.

These are a winner of the XI International Tchaikovsky Competition cellist Denis Shapovalov, a multi saxophonist, Yamaha artist Ivan Dyma and a Prize Winner at the most prestigious competitions flutist Irina Stachinskaya, who plays the golden flute produced by Powell. And the youngest participant of the Season Ticket who has not reached the age of 20 years, soloist of the St. Petersburg House of Music, Prize Winner at the international competitions pianist Ilya Papoyan.

The first concert, on 10 October, 2018, is dedicated to the Baltic countries, such as Estonia and Latvia, which are well familiar to all St. Petersburg citizens as tourists. Unfortunately, the music of these countries is not widely spread in Russia. The program of this evening will introduce works of Baltic authors to the audience. Denis Shapovalov will perform Cello Concerto by the classic of the Latvian music Pēteris Vasks. The program also includes works of the Estonian composers such as Arvo Pärt, Eduard Tubin and Arturs Maskats as well as of the Latvian classic Georgs Pelēcis.

The second concert, on 22 November, 2018, is dedicated to Germany. A major part of the program features the classical works: Irina Stachinskaya will perform Flute Concerto composed by Carl Reinecke almost 200 years ago. The second part of the program includes works by Beethoven and Weber, as well as "Schicksalslied" for choir and orchestra by the main representative of the German romanticism Johannes Brahms.

The third concert, on 15 March, 2019 is dedicated to Poland. The most distinguished and popular composer of this country is Frederic Chopin, familiar to everyone for his famous Funeral March. In fact, Chopin has a great number of works including two piano concertos. It is a rare occasion when they are performed in one program, but the 17-year-old soloist of the St. Petersburg House of Music Ilya Papoyan will cope with this difficult task, accompanied by The Saint-Petersburg Northern Sinfonia Orchestra of the Music Hall Theatre led by Maestro Fabio Mastrangelo.

«Music Journey» will conclude on 19 April, 2019, at the hot and always dancing continent – South America. A rarely performed Saxophone Concerto of the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos will be played by Ivan Dyma. The program will conclude with works by the unsurpassed Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla and Mexican composers Arturo Márquez and Carlos Chávez.
